Pillar 4
Make sure what you’ve built goes where you intend.
Documents drafted years ago, beneficiary forms filled out on your first day at a job, accounts opened since. Together with your attorney, we check that all of it still says what you mean.

What this pillar covers.
- Will and trust review: what your documents say, and whether they still match your life.
- Beneficiary designations on every account, aligned with your will so they don’t override it by accident.
- Powers of attorney and executor choices, and what each role requires.
- Family meetings, when you want the next generation to understand the plan.
- Charitable gifting plans that fit your tax picture.
- Estate tax and probate exposure, and the planning that can reduce it.
Where it touches the other pillars.
A Roth conversion changes what your heirs inherit and how it’s taxed. A beneficiary form on a 401(k) can override a will. Life insurance is often where an estate’s cash comes from. We review this pillar with all of that in mind.
What the work looks like.
We review your documents and designations during the assessment, share what we find at the findings meeting, and coordinate any changes with your estate attorney during implementation.
Our firm does not provide legal advice or services. Please consult your legal advisor or an estate planning attorney regarding your specific situation.
Frequently asked questions
No. Your estate attorney drafts the documents. We review what they say against your accounts, your beneficiary designations, and the rest of your plan, and we work with your attorney on any changes.
Because beneficiary designations on retirement accounts and insurance policies pass outside your will, and they’re often older than the will itself. A review checks that your documents and your designations are telling the same story.
